How to Wear Orange Makeup – Make the Trend Work For You

Some trends are harder to pull off than others, but there is a way to make almost any trend work for you. The year 2012 brought us many things, including the orange makeup trend. Here are some different ways you can integrate orange, or any color that is on trend really, into your look and not look like a clown.

Lip Color

There are different variations on the orange trend when it comes to lip color. You can find a bold orange lip stick to wear the trend proudly, or you can go more subtle by choosing a sheer red-orange lip gloss to wear to work. You can integrate an orange lip gloss that is color dense into an ombre lip look blended over a red lip stick to combine two trends and make each of them a bit more wearable depending on the shades you choose. If you want a true opaque lip color, including one in a light orange shade, check out the brand Lime Crime for great options you can use.

Nails

Nail color is available in just about any hue you can imagine, so hop on the orange bandwagon with your nails. You can have fun with nail art, drawing designs with orange lacquer on a blue or red base and get creative with your digits. Another option is to go for straight orange nails, wearing the trend proudly. You may not feel able to wear orange lip stick to work every day but nails are a whole different story for most work places.

Blush

Tangerine colored blush is a great choice for summer, especially if you already wear bronzer every day. A warm bronzer looks perfect alongside a light wash of blush in a more neutral orange shade. Good options are some of the blushes from Illamasqua and NARS.

Shadows

Creating an intricate shadow look using orange shades may not be something you are comfortable doing, so instead take the concept, but tone it down. Do that by using a light layer of orange as your base with a navy blue shade worn in the crease. You can also make your look on-trend by using an orange eye shadow to line underneath your bottom lash line with coordinating colors on your eyelid.
If you want to create a more dramatic look like the one pictured above, make sure you prep the eye area with hydration, then primer, to make sure your look lasts all day without creasing.
